BrewDog has closed its Punk Kitchen concept in Islington after just two months of trading, MCA has learnt.

The Scottish brewer and pub operator originally ran the Essex Road site under its Dog Eat Dog food-led concept after acquiring the property from Giraffe in 2014. However, the format lasted just six months, with the company saying it wanted to “mix things up a bit” by introducing Punk Kitchen, which was to host a different pop-up food operator each month.

At the end of September, MCA revealed that the site had been put on the market through JLL.

This week, a BrewDog spokesperson told MCA: “Due to some tricky license restrictions, our Punk Kitchen site in Angel will be closing its doors. We delivered some kick-ass new food concepts and rest assured our efforts are now focused on developing new sites in Berlin, Homerton and York.”
