Scottish brewer and pub operator BrewDog has closed its final Bottledog and plans to instead focus on adding take-out options to its existing and new bars.

As reported by MCA’s sister title, the Morning Advertiser this morning, BrewDog closed King’s Crossbottle shop, which opened in April 2014.

The Gray’s Inn Road store was followed by an Edinburgh version of BottleDog, which opened in October 2015 but closed in April of last year.

BrewDog Retail managing director David McDowall told the MA: “We took the really difficult decision to close the doors to BottleDog Kings Cross in order to focus our efforts on our combined bar and bottleshop sites.

“Although a popular site with plenty of BrewDog fans, dedicated bottle shop sites sit out with our core plan.”

“Investments into our other locations will continue to increase the availability of awesome take-away beer in BrewDog bars.

“For our loyal army of beer geeks, we would like to say a huge thanks for visiting the site and rest assured, there are other big plans on the horizon; new bars, epic brews and plenty more awesome projects coming your way in the next year!”

In November BrewDog closed its Punk Kitchen concept in Islington after just two months of trading.

The group originally ran the Essex Road site under its Dog Eat Dog food-led concept after acquiring the property from Giraffe in 2014. However, the format lasted just six months, with the company saying it wanted to “mix things up a bit” by introducing Punk Kitchen, which was to host a different pop-up food operator each month.
