Oxfordshire-based pub operator Brakspear has acquired its eighth managed site, M&C understands.

The group has acquired the Grapevine in Stow-in-the-Wold, meaning half its managed estate is located in the Cotswolds.

The 17th century site, which currently houses a bar, restaurant and 22 bedrooms, has been owned since 2012 by multiple operator Elaine Booth. Brakspear will be investing in a major refurbishment, which should be completed by May.

Tom Davies, Brakspear chief executive, said: “The Grapevine is an outstanding addition to our managed division and we look forward to turning it into a thriving food-destination pub with boutique hotel accommodation.”

The deal means Brakspear has doubled the size of its managed estate in the past 12 months. Davies has previously told M&C he has a target of 10 in the first phase of managed growth.
