Radfox, a Brighton based operator from the team behind Bison Beer, has taken the former Doctor Brightons pub, MCA understands.

The now closed gay-friendly pub was previously run by Charles Child as a tenant of EiG, whose lease on the seafront venue expired, opening it up to competitive tender.

Radfox’s directors include Jack Cregan and Nick Vardy, the pair behind bottle shop, craft beer pub and brewery business Bison; as well as Simon Duddington, former owner of the Bottom’s Rest and a manager with Laine’s.

They plan to return the pub to its original name, the Star and Garter, with an emphasis on craft bar, a franchised kitchen, and accommodation upstairs.

The trio are also directors of Bigfoot Pub Co, which operates The Pond pub, and recently acquired The Hampton from Laine, renaming it Easy Tiger.
