The operators of Bierschenke, the German beer house located in central London that was recently acquired by City Pub Company, are to relocate the concept to larger premises in the City at the end of May.

The new 350-cover site is close to Liverpool Street Station and will open following a “comprehensive refurbishment”.

Bierschenke has been at its current site in Essex Street for three and a half years.

Bierschenke owner Oliver Heller said: “Having established Bierschenke as London’s premier authentic German beer hall, and thrived, we have now outgrown our premises. The time has come to bring a bigger, better Bierschenke to London.”

Christie + Co handled the transaction on the leasehold site, a former Henrys Cafe Bar. It closed in 2012 when the former tenants, TCG, exercised a break clause.
