Beds and Bars, the pub-meets-hostel operator led by Keith Knowles, is heading for Prague in the Czech Republic via a joint venture with local operators. The company is to open Mosaic House, in partnership with Bohemian Hostels, a new venue that will comprise 270 beds through a mix of its traditional multi-bed dormitory format plus some boutique-style private rooms. It will also include a Belushi’s bar and a restaurant. The move means that the company, previously known as Interpub, now trades in seven countries. Mosaic House will be its 18 venue with budget accommodation aimed at backpackers, most of which trade under the St Christopher’s Inns name. Knowles told M&C: “We’ve looked at Prague for a few years and we now have the opportunity to build a business with a great local partnership, which we believe is key to success. “This will compliment Berlin, Paris, Amsterdam and Bruges very well, and my team and I are really excited by this great opportunity.” Bohemian Hostels owns and operates the Czech Inn, Miss Sophie’s and Sir Toby’s – all in Prague.
