British Country Inns (BCI), the Enterprise Investment Scheme (EIS)-backed company, has sold four of its planned seven disposals, M&C Report has learnt.

This has resulted in debts being cleared at its vehicle BCI4.

Last summer the company revealed its plan to sell of up to seven of its smaller freehold pub sites to focus on its larger sites.

It has sold two pubs in South Wales: the Butchers Arms in Pontardawe, near Swansea and Llangeinor Arms, near Bridgend; and two in East Anglia: The Lion in Leavenheath, near Colchester and the Three Horseshoes in Cockfield, near Bury St Edmonds.

The company is now focusing on reinvesting in existing sites and has completed the renovation of its Wooden Fender pub in Ardleigh, Essex. BCI currently operates 22 pubs.
