The British Beer & Pub Association (BBPA) has named 110 MPs as “Beer Champions” for supporting the industry since the start of the 2017 Parliament.

MPs including Bob Blackman, Graham Evans, Maria Caulfield and Andrew Gwynne were among those named by the BBPA in recognition of advocacy in Parliament, in votes, supportive motions and debates. The BBPA declined to provide a list of the 110 MPS it recognised with awards.

The awards highlight, in particular, the support of MPs in securing successive freezes in beer duty which the BBPA said had secured thousands of jobs and millions of pounds worth of investment in the brewing and pubs sector.

Brigid Simmonds, BBPA chief executive, said: “This award recognises MPs for their invaluable support for the great British pub and Britain’s historic brewing industry.

“I want to thank MPs from across the house for the work done in securing two beer duty freezes in this parliament, and for their support for the brewing and pubs sector since the 2017 election.”
