Banwell House, the South West-based pub operator, is to open its fifth site, under a joint venture with Wadworth, MCA understands.

Managing director Toby Brett told MCA the New Inn, in Monmouth Place, Bath, should be open by the end of the month.

He said the partnership represented a new direction for Wadworth, with Banwell House having taken charge of the development with the brewer contributing to the cost.

Brett said the group was also taking on the running of a community owned pub – the Packhorse at South Stoke, near Bath – with Brett taking a 5% stake.

He said he was also in legals on another freehold site, which is expected to complete next month.

Brett described the New Inn as having “a craft beer offering but in a traditional alehouse setting”, with a food selection revolving around nightly specials ranging from burgers to Mexican food.

The refurb involved changing the pub from a two-bar to a one-bar operation with a roof terrace added.
