Bannatyne Fitness is to open a bar/restaurant in The Gate complex in Newcastle.
Bar Bannatyne is due to open at the end of November. If successful, the concept will be rolled out nationally.
Bannatyne’s director Nigel Armstrong said: "A bar-restaurant concept is something we have been interested in for a while. We have got experience in the liquor and entertainment side, and wanted to get into the front end of the market."
Armstrong said the venue would have a "very upmarket" fit out, echoing a Moroccan-Mediterranean style complete with tiled flooring.
"It will appeal across the board, to football fans having beer before the game, couples having a meal, and anyone generally wanting a lively, busy night out, " he said.
