Alma De Cuba, an award-winning bar in Liverpool, has been bought from administrators following the collapse of its parent company. The bar, housed in a former Polish church, was acquired by some of the directors of TGI TB, which also operated a venue called Dovedale Towers, after the company was placed in administration last week. Rob Preston, a director of TGI TB, said the company had encountered problems following the poor performance of the group’s other bar. He said: “It had a number of problems and was not doing well financially. “The business was placed in administration but we always knew Alma De Cuba was a great business, so some of the management team negotiated a buy-out with the administrators.” Dovedale Towers, previously named Lief and Alma De Santiago, remains up for sale. Alma De Cuba was voted Liverpool's best leisure spot last year and also collected the best venue prize at the Retailers' Retailer of the Year Awards 2008, organised by M&C Report.
