Amber Taverns managing director James Baer has told M&C Report the company has not made a bid for Bravo Inns.

M&C Report revealed in January that Albion Ventures, the investment vehicle, was reviewing its options with the Cheshire-based pub company led by Ken Buckley.

Amber Taverns had been rumoured to have expressed an interest but Baer confirmed the company had decided against any move.

Hawthorn Leisure, the May Capital-backed group, is one of the firms believed to have expressed early interest in Bravo Inns. M&C Report understands that a number of private equity funds are also keeping a close eye on a number of opportunities in the marketplace in partnership with experienced management teams.

Amber, the BlueBay Asset Management and MxP Partners-backed group, is also believed to have been one of the bidders for Nectar Taverns.

Hawthorn Leisure bought the 25-strong Nectar estate in October, in a deal understood to be valued at £10m.
