Tim Cullum has left his role as joint managing director of Stonegate, MCA understands.

He will be replaced at the helm of the company’s Bars & Venues division by former PizzaExpress operations director, Helen Charlesworth.

Stonegate said that former Novus Leisure chief executive Cullum, who joined the business in February last year, had left to pursue other opportunities.

Chief executive Simon Longbottom said: “I would like to personally thank Tim Cullum for the support he has given to me and the business over the last year, and I wish him every success for the future. Helen is a strong addition to the operating board of Stonegate and will help us cement our position as the best drink-led, managed pub company in the UK.”

Charlesworth spent six years as operations director for PizzaExpress before becoming managing director of estate agents, Your Move.

Cullum’s appointment last year was part of a restructure by Longbottom, which saw the business divided in two with Cullum taking on responsibility for the development of The Slug and Lettuce and Yates’s brands, as well as Stonegate’s late night venues.

The remainder of the Stonegate estate operates within the Traditional Pubs division, overseen by Nick Andrews.

Cullum stepped down from Novus Leisure in October 2014 and was replaced by Toby Smith, formerly chief executive at Stonegate.
