Six Continents chairman Sir Ian Prosser is poised to be the next chairman of Standard Chartered.
He is billed as the front-runner to succeed Sir Patrick Gillam who plans to step down in early 2003.
But Six Continents is keen to retain Prosser, who relinquished the chief executive's role a year ago.
