Spanish club operator Costa Este group has taken on the former Dstrkt club site, the Evening Standard reports.

Costa Este, which operates high-end restaurants and clubs in Barcelona, Marbella and Madrid, has agreed a letting on Rupert Street in Soho for new concept Opium London.

Dstrkt attracted celebrity guests such as Kanye West and Kim Kardashian, but came under fire for an alleged discriminatory door policy, and closed last year.

A spokesman for the new restaurant and club, said it is due to open in September told the Standard it would be “cool and friendly”, and was a “long term project for us to create a foothold” in the capital.

Davis Coffer Lyons brokered the deal.

The property is owned by Criterion Capital.
