Chris Stagg has left Hall & Woodhouse to joins The Restaurant Group’s food-led pub business Brunning & Price (B&P) as its new deputy managing director, M&C Report understands.

Stagg leaves Hall & Woodhouse after 12 years, including stints as regional director and most recently head of operations.

He will work closely with Graham Price, the 30-strong B&P’s managing director and co-founder. TRG started the search process for a deputy managing director for its pubs division earlier this year as part of its succession planning.

B&P will open a further two sites this year to take its estate to 32.

The group will open the Woolbridge near Ironbridge in Shropshire, this October. A month later, it will open the Architect, which overlooks the racecourse at Roodee in Chester.

In June, the group opened its latest site, the Wharf, in the Castlefield area of Manchester. Previous to that it had opened the Little Manor pub, which borders the villages of Thelwall and Lymm.

In June last year, TRG which acquired the then 14-strong B&P business in 2007 for £32m, jointly appointed AG&G and Christie + Co to initially find acquisition opportunities inside the M25 and within B&P’s current heartlands of the North West and the South East.
