Landlord Hammerson has reported 90% of operators in its UK estate are currently able to trade, with footfall is “competitive with pre-pandemic levels”.

The owner of Bicester Village, Brent Cross and the Bullring said over a seven-day average, footfall at its flagship destinations was around four-fifths of that achieved in the same week in April 2019.

This is an improvement of approaching 50% points on reopening in June 2020.

In Scotland, around 30% of its occupiers are currently trading, ahead of the current anticipated re-opening on 26 April.

In the UK, Hammerson has collected 48% of rent due in Q2 2021 rent due.

A statement read: “The company continues to work hard with brand partners to focus on improving collection rates on agreed rents. Looking forward to when all occupiers are able to operate, we expect collection rates for both the current year and FY20 to continue to improve as restrictions are eased across territories.”
