Gelato Mio, the authentic Italian ice cream chain, has continued its expansion in London, with the opening of two new units, which takes its estate in the capital to nine. The Milan-inspired concept, which was founded by Carlo Del Mistro in 2008, opened its eighth outlet in the Arcade area of St Pancras International. The group has also opened a unit on Muswell Hill’s Broadway. Both new openings will complement its existing sites in Belsize Park, St John’s Wood, Fulham, Chiswick, Notting Hill and its original premises at Holland Park. In addition to ice cream, the sites offer a range of authentic Italian coffee, panini and patisserie. Del Mistro said: “We use natural ingredients served in an authentic Italian-style environment, and that is something which is very important for the clientele here at St Pancras International. Those passing through from the continent know their ice-cream! We really felt that there was no ice cream parlour in the UK market, which offers the kind of great tasting and naturally flavoured product you can find it Italy. The fact we’ve been able to grown an array of sites is proof of the concept’s potential and one which can continue to grow." Davis Coffer Lyons’ (DCL) Development Leasing team acted on behalf of HS1 Ltd, owners of St Pancras International. Alice Keown at DCL said: “Since opening in 2007, St Pancras International has sought to offer much more than your standard station fayre. The high quality and fashionable eating and dining options on offer have mirrored the station's remarkable refurbishment. Gelato Mio really complements the other flourishing catering brands on offer, such as the world class St Pancras Grand restaurant and Champagne Bar, Le Pain Quotidien, Peyton and Byrne and Sourced Market.”
