Whyte & Brown, the fledgling free-range chicken and egg concept, has appointed Emma King, one of the co-founders of Gail’s Bakery, as its new managing director, M&C has learnt.

King joins the business, which launch in Soho’s Kingly Court in 2013, will focus on the overall strategy for the concept, including exploring expansion opportunities next year.

Her appointment comes a co-founder and chairman Kevin Bacon takes a step back from the business, but will continue as an investor and adviser.

M&C understands that the group is looking to grow a collection of individual restaurants, rather than take a “cookie cutter” approach.

It is thought that the group’s Kingly Court site is generating c£50k a week in sales.

The concept, which includes Mark Farrar-Brown, formerly of Risk Capital Partners, as an investor, is the brainchild of Creative Director Fiona Gale.
