Andrew Swift has stepped down from Costa Coffee after seven years with the chain to become head of cafes at book retailer Waterstones.
Swift leaves Costa after a year as operations project manager. Previous to that he worked on store format innovation for the Whitbread-owned group.
He was previously an operations manager at Benugo and an area manager at PizzaExpress.
At Waterstones he will oversee the roll out of its Café W format, which the retailer launched at its site in Sutton in 2012, leading to sales increasing from 2% to 10%.
It so far rolled out the concept to c30 sites across its c270-strong estate.
The Café W concept provides customers with ethically sourced coffee and food from local suppliers.
