Former Be At One managing director Andrew Stones has joined the board of Vagabond in a non-executive advisory role, MCA understands.
Stones, who joins the board as part of his joining Vagabond backer Imbiba, will support the wine bar group as it embarks on its next phase of growth.
Stones joins Vagabond chair Karen Forrester as an experienced, multisite operator looking to support the Stephen Finch-led business as it opens five more sites in London, and turns to regional and international expansion.
Finch told MCA yesterday that forthcoming sites at Paddington and Canary Wharf would trial an all-day offer, with speciality coffee, breakfast food and non-alcoholic drinks, in order to make the most of the sites.
Meanwhile a new app will be launched later this year, with customers able to order and pay via mobile, rather than the current system of buying credits, and is linked to the new combined Epos system.
Finch told MCA: “Our existing sites plus our London pipeline takes us to 10, which is a number I’ve always had in mind. That’s not to sat London’s done, but then we will shift to expansion outside the city, and there a lot of great cities out there, which I would rather get to first. That means we can adopt a more wait and see opportunistic approach to any subsequent London sites.
“I want open to around five a year- it’s out PE guys who are more conservative. I’m the one that’s banging the drum.”
