Kevin Steppe has stepped down from Spirirt Pub Company, the Greene King-owned group, after seven years to become director of food at rival Stonegate Pub Company, M&C has learnt.

Steppe has most recently been category director for food at Spirit and before that the group’s head of food and menu development manager.

His appointment follows that of Matthew Young, formerly of Travelodge, as Stonegate’s new IT director.

Last month, Stonegate’s Classic Inns estate unveiled its winter menu, which will have a pie festival running alongside it.

The pie festival, which runs until 22 November, will feature eight varieties, ranging from gourmet British beef or venison, pulled Lincolnshire ham or a creamy fisherman’s pie.
