Starbucks UK has restructured its operations team as its rate of expansion continues to slow, MCA understands.

The group has traditionally had four regional operations directors overseeing the UK but it is understood that this has now been narrowed to two.

The move has seen Robert McCoy join from PizzaExpress, with a brief to cover London and the south east, with existing regional operations director Gill Rogers responsible for the rest of the country.

The other three regional operations directors – Adam Green, Gill Rogers and Peter Cossar are all set to move to new roles. Cossar is understood to have joined Papa John’s as operations director.

The latest results for the UK arm show that it continued to reduce its equity store numbers with a further shift towards franchised, resulting in staff costs dropping 1.6%.

A spokesperson from Starbucks said: ”Our internal U.K. business is structured into two regions, U.K. North and U.K. South. As a matter of policy, we do not comment on specific personnel matters.”
