Prezzo, the TPG Capital-backed group, has appointed Mark Powell, formerly of Poundland, as its new chief people officer, MCA understands.

Powell joins the c-300-strong group after five years with Poundland, where he helped oversee the successful IPO of the high street retailer.

At the same time, Jo Hyde has joined the group as a regional operations director, after over eight years with pub company Punch.

Hyde spent the last year at Punch as a regional operations director.

At the start of the year, Janene Pretorius stepped down as training and HR director at Prezzo after over four and a half years with the company. She has since joined the Ivy Collection.

She was replaced in the interim by Graham Maundrell, formerly group HR director and people development consultant at the Vita Group and before that spent three years as group director of HR at De La Rue. He was also previously HR director at Diageo.

Earlier this month, MCA reported that the group had passed the 300-site mark after a flurry of new openings this year.

The next openings for Prezzo will be in Livingston, West Lothian, later this month and Thornbury, Gloucestershire, in July. It follows a flurry of recent openings, including Mere Green and Telford in the West Midlands, the West Quay development in Bournemouth and Belfast.
