PizzaExpress, the Hony Capital-backed group, has appointed former Costa director Suzie Welch as its new people director, M&C understands.

Welch joins the 440-strong restaurant chain, after spending seven years at Costa, which included stints at its HR director for the UK and more recently as talent director.

She also previously had stints at Whitbread and TGI Friday’s.

PizzaExpress is currently gearing up to launch first sites under its Delivered format and new chicken-led concept Reys in Cambridge.

Earlier this month, the company launched a new campaign called ‘Memorable Moments’ in line with its 50th birthday celebrations, which gives consumers the chance to have a special treat or treats including free meals, bottles of Champagne and even Rugby World Cup tickets during September.

The campaign’s tagline, “These are the moments worth sharing” is inspired by the constant stream of food shots, group pictures and selfies shared by PizzaExpress customers through their own social channels.
