Nick Pfeiffer is leaving Tortilla, the Quilvest-backed, the burrito and taco brand, to join the AIM-listed Comptoir Group, as its new head of construction and project management, MCA understands.

Pfeiffer is leaving the 34-strong Tortilla after seven and a half years as its head of property and projects.

He is leaving Tortilla as its gears up to open in Kingston in a couple of weeks and then Dalston in July. A further international sites in Riyadh opens in May with a couple more sites in Saudi Arabia due to come on line later this year.

The group is also hoping to open a few more in the UK by the year end.

Last week, Comptoir Group, operator of the Comptoir Libanais, Shawa and Yalla Yalla brands, announced it was reducing its opening schedule for 2018, to four restaurants as it eyes a “cautious approach”.

The 22-strong group said trading in January and February had been below expectations, although improved in March.

The group said it had made the decision be more cautious in its approach to openings for the short term. Having over-delivered on its pipeline for 2016, the group expects just three sites to open in 2017 and four in 2018, although it said this may be revised up depending on site availability and market conditions.

It will open a site under its core brand and a Shawa unit at the Westgate scheme in Oxford this October.
