Papa John’s UK has promoted Chris Phylactou to the position of managing director.

Phylactou has been with the pizza brand for more than three years, as vice president of supply chain and international supply chain.

He previously spent eight years at TGI Fridays in senior strategic sourcing and brand licensing roles.

Phylactou replaces previous MD Rob Payne, who is understood to have left the business after a year-and-a-half in the role.

Gavin Lilley, who was previously VP, international operations, is also understood to have left the brand.

It comes as the brand reshapes its UK business and buys restaurants to add to its corporate estate.

Earlier this year acquired two packages of Papa John’s restaurants, one 27-strong, and another 91-strong through the acquisition of the M25 division of Drake Food Service International (DFSI).

It brings the UK corporate estate to 118 restaurants, the largest store footprint outside of North America, with the company aiming to follow a similar model to the US by owning and operating restaurants.
