Jane O’Riordan, group strategy director at Nando’s has joined the board of Turtle Bay as its new chair.

The move sees Crispin Twedell step down as chair but remain on the board as a non-executive director.

Riordan has worked at Nando’s for the past 22 years, and recently featured on BBC Two’s Million Pound Menu as a potential investor. Last month she also joined the board of Flight Club.

She is part of the advisory panel to Turtle Bay backer, Piper.

The Caribbean restaurant and bar group currently operates 45 sites, with seven new openings in the year to 24 February. During that period sales grew 7% to £68.1m.

Turtle Bay founder Ajith Jayawickrema said: “We’re extremely grateful to Crispin for helping Turtle Bay to evolve from concept all the way through to market-leading restaurant brand and look forward to his continued involvement on the board. We are delighted to welcome Jane as chair. Her insights and knowledge of the market will be hugely beneficial to us as we continue to drive the brand forward and introduce Turtle Bay to new customers.”

O’Riordan said: ‘Ajith, Crispin and the team at Turtle Bay have done a magnificent job in bringing the authentic Caribbean experience to towns and cities across the UK. I look forward to helping them build on their success and take the brand to even greater heights.’
