Jean-Michel Orieux has stepped down as chief executive of Paul Bakery’s UK and US operations.

He will stay on at the group, as a non-executive director of Paul International, which operates c700 units.

Orieux has had two spells at Paul, starting its roll out in the UK as managing director in 2003, before leaving in 2007 to head up Ping Pong Dim Sum.

He left Ping Pong in 2012, after the business had grown to an 11-strong chain in the UK, while also launching in the US, Brazil and Dubai.

When he re-joined Paul as UK CEO in 2013, the bakery and patisserie group had c32 sites in London, which he grew to 38 over all, launching regional sites, as well as an express format earlier this year.

Orieux also spent two years as operations director at Conran Restaurants as an operations director at the start of his career.

Paul have yet to announce his replacement.
