NewRiver – the UK REIT and operator of 350 pubs - has announced the resignation of non-executive director, Chris Taylor.

Taylor, who joined the board in 2012, will step down on 9 April to focus on his increasing responsibilities at Hermes Investment Management, where he is the head of private markets. A search for a replacement is to start immediately.

Paul Roy, non-executive chairman of NewRiver, said: “On behalf of the Board I would like to thank Chris for his major contribution to NewRiver. Chris has been a very strong advocate of the NewRiver business model and has brought considerable experience and insight to the Board. Chris played a key role in supporting the Board and management during many asset acquisitions and capital raisings which has helped propel the Company into the FTSE 250.”

The group, which dropped the ‘Retail’ from its name at the end of last year, has yet to announce what will happen with its pub portfolio director role. Jackie Moody-McNamara, who was the first pub to have held the title, announced her decision to leave the company in December.
