Nando’s, the Capricorn Ventures-backed group, has made a key addition to its management team, after appointing Richard Atkinson, who was responsible for building the award-winning JustGiving service, as its new technology director for UK & Ireland, M&C has learnt.
Atkinson, who was also previously IT director at Novus Leisure, joins the 348-strong brand after three years as chief financial officer at JustGiving, which is the world’s leading social giving company, enabling 22 million people to raise over $3bn for over 12,500 charities since launch.
It is thought the the company sees Atkinson’s appointment as a significant step in driving further forward its digital capabilities and already sector-leadling loyalty programmes.
Nando’s, which will have 363 sites by the end of its current financial year, has also promoted Garry Duncan, who has been with the company for over 15 years, from regional director for the south of England to operations director for the UK & Ireland, after John Nelson’s decision to become chief executive of MOD Pizza UK.
Earlier this week, MOD announced that Nelson was to become the chief executive of MOD Pizza UK, the Sir Charles Dunstone-backed venture, which plans to open its first site here next year.
