Marston’s has appointed Carolyn Bradley as interim chairman of the board, with effect from 1 June 2018.

It follows the announcement that current chairman Roger Devlin will step down from his role on May 2018 to concentrate on other business commitments.

Bradley has been the senior independent director at the brewery and pub operator since September 2016, and became a member of the remuneration committee at the same time. She also joined the Audit Committee in January 2018.

Devlin joined William Hill as chairman in February this year, and will join the board of Persimmon as chairman on 1 June.

Speaking at the time of the announcement on his departure, Devlin said: “Marston’s is a great business which has been transformed over recent years into the high quality pub portfolio and market-leading beer business which it comprises today. The company benefits from a strong Board, well established leadership team and a clear strategic plan for continued growth. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with the business and wish Ralph and the team continued success in the future.”

The search process to find a permanent successor for Devlin is underway and a further announcement will be made in due course.
