Leon has appointed Mac Plumpton as managing director, succeeding Ashley Davis.

The Asda-owned ‘healthy fast food’ chain had been seeking a new MD since Glenn Edwards stepped down from the role in November 2023.

Davis has since served as interim MD but will depart Leon in June 2024 and take on the role of chief commercial officer at premium ready meal retailer Cook.

Plumpton’s prior experience includes roles such as director of operations for Rosa’s Thai, MD at Tapas Revolution, and MD at Crate Brewery.

He is also a consultant for recruitment specialist Acumen Search Partners.

Asda acquired Leon’s 78 UK stores last year, along with the majority of EG Group’s UK & Ireland’s fuel, foodservice, grocery, and merchandise business in a £2bn deal completed in October 2023.

Following the acquisition, the supermarket giant said it would look to introduce the Leon brand into its stores as part of a its new focus on foodservice.

Leon’s retail range, including coffee, condiments, and waffle fries, is currently available at Asda as well as Sainsbury’s and Ocado.
