Simon Lewis has left his role as chief executive of West Berkshire Brewery, MCA understands.

Lewis joined the David Bruce-chaired group in February 2015 from Purity Brewing. He had previously founded and operated the Royal Tunbridge Wells Brewing Co.

Bruce told MCA that Lewis had left “with the very best wishes” of the company and insisted the focus was now on completing the company £12n fundraise and growing its pub estate.

During Lewis’ time at WBB, the group acquired and opened its £6m brewery in Yattendon, with a visitor centre now being developed, and acquired its first pub – Shillibeer’s in Islington, which has been renamed the Depot.

The group has exchanged contracts for its second pub - the Old Suffolk Punch on Fulham Palace Road, West London and Bruce said a deal was close on another “stonking great boozer” in Kentish Town.

At the same time as Lewis’ departure, non-executive director Clive Watson has left the board to concentrate on the newly floated City Pub Group.
