Camden Town Brewery has promoted sales director Adam Keary to managing director, MCA understands.

Keary had been with the AB InBev-owned craft brewery for around three years, and before that was with housewear manufacturer Joseph Joseph and Nespresso.

He replaces Luca Lorenzoni who left earlier this year, and is now strategy director at Northern Monk craft brewery.

Lorenzoni was with Camden Town for nearly two years, and before that spent more than eight years at parent company AB InBev.

Keary said: “This is a very exciting time for Camden, so naturally I am delighted to take on the role of managing director. Our ambition for the future is massive and I’m looking forward to realising this next phase of growth with our fantastic beer team and network of domestic and international customers.”

Founder Jasper Cuppaidge added: “Adam has been at the centre of our incredible growth, his team have secured core listings and built hugely important relationships with some of the UK’s biggest and best on and off trade outlets. Adam has done all this while keeping us true to our core values and mission to become the UK’s favourite lager brewery. I’m looking forward to seeing how the next chapter of Camden’s story unfolds with Adam’s expertise, guidance and ambition at the heart of the business.”

During the past year, Camden Town Brewery has recruited 63 new employers into its 200-strong beer team, given its original brewery in Camden a £1m revamp, and increased breawing capacity  in Enfield to more than 300 hectolitres.

AB InBev acquired Camden in 2015 in a deal worth £85m.

Camden’s latest accounts show it made a loss of £6.7m in 2018, widening from a loss of £5.6m in 2017.

Turnover was £37.3m, up from £24.8m in 2017.

During the year the company sold its pub, Camden’s Daughter, to concentrate on its growing its brewing operation, and its other pub The Horseshoe in Hampstead Heath and taproom at its Kentish Town Brewery.
