Innis & Gun has appointed former brands marketing manager for Tennent Caldeonian, Jane Cannon, as its first head of marketing.

Cannon has been working with the Scottish brewer and pub operator since August but has now been put in charge of all marketing for its brands as it seeks further growth.

Cannon lead the development of the beer portfolio at Tennent Caledonian, part of the C & C Group from 2008 – 2015.

She said: “I’ve always been a big admirer of Innis & Gunn, having followed its progress closely over the past seven years. It’s been incredible to see it grow from its Scottish roots to define the craft beer scene in the UK, using its innovative approach to brewing.

“We’ve got an exciting year ahead following our acquisition of the Inveralmond Brewery. This is already opening up new realms of possibilities, from new brewing styles, to increasing our production in new and existing markets. I’m looking forward to applying new approaches to our marketing and communications, by finding innovative ways to connect with our community and discover new craft beer fans”.

Dougal Sharp, founder and master brewer at Innis & Gunn, said: “This year is already off to an exciting start with the acquisition of our own brewery so we’ll be rolling out our expansion plans sooner than we thought. The new Head of Marketing role will be vital in driving this progression forward.

“Jane’s unique curiosity about beer’s position in the world made her a natural choice for the role. Her drive to join us in innovating the industry was really clear from the off and we’re all excited to welcome her to the company”.
