Wholesaler and drinks distributor, Conviviality, has confirmed that chief executive Diana Hunter has stepped down with immediate effect.

The company, which includes the businesses formerly known as Matthew Clark and Bibendum, will be led by chairman David Adams “until further notice”.

Hunter, who has been chief executive since 2013, will remain with the company for a period of time to provide “transition support”, a statement issued yesterday sad.

It follows a series of profit warnings and the admission that a £30m payment to HMRC, due at the end of this month, had not been accounted for.
