Glyn House is to step down from Wagamama after 10 years with the company, including the last eight as operations director, as he looks to focus on different challenges and opportunities in the next stage in his career, M&C has learnt.

House will remain a shareholder in the company.

At the same time, Sarah Hills has been appointed as the group’s new UK operations director and will begin her role on 1 February. Hills joined wagamama 15 years ago, previously regional director for the south of the UK.

Wagamama’s executive team niow comprises David Campbell, chief executive; Jane Holbrook, chief financial officer; Hills; Simon Cope, global brand director; and Andy Moat, people director.

Campbell said: “I would like to express my utmost gratitude to Glyn for his 10 years of service to the company, eight of which as operations director. During Glyn’s time as operations director, we have grown from 45 to 118 restaurants and he has played a major role in all areas of our success. We wish Glyn the very best for the future as he looks to pursue other business interests, and look forward to remaining firm friends.

“I am absolutely thrilled to announce that Sarah Hills will become UK operations director and therefore join the executive team. Sarah is in every way the natural successor to Glyn, having been with the company for 15 years, most recently as regional director for the south of the UK. There are very few restaurants in the company that Sarah has not managed in some capacity.”
