Hotcha, the south west-based Chinese takeaway operator, has appointed Clive Mellor, former senior executive at Domino’s Pizza, as its new operations director, M&C Report has learnt.

Mellor’s hospitality career has spanned a number of brands including Little Chef, Burger King and Traveller’s Fare.

Hotcha founder James Liang said was keeping to his plans to turn his Hotcha brand into the Domino’s Pizza of the Chinese takeaway sector and that Mellor’s appointment was part of its national growth plan to open 100 franchised stores across the UK in the next five years.

Mellor will be responsible for “maintaining high trading standards across all aspects of the business”and also help increase the frequency of store openings.

Liang said: “This high level appointment signals our intentions to make Hotcha a leading national takeaway and restaurant brand in the next few years.”

Hotcha currently has nine stores in the South West of England, with a tenth set to open in Bath.
