Michael Holmes, chief executive of new food experiences at Tesco, who has overseen the growth and investment in brands including Harris + Hoole and Giraffe, has had his responsibilities at the retailer extended.

Holmes, who the company said had “created our portfolio of in-store dining and cafe experiences from scratch”, will now also oversee the group’s garden centre chain Dobbies and its convenience store brand One Stop.

The latter in particular will be seen as another possible location to introduce the group’s eating-out brands.

Holmes is also joining the retailer’s UK leadership team, with accountability to Chris Bush, its UK managing director as part of a shake up of its executive committee.
