Adam Gregory has stepped down as managing director of Wagamama’s US operations to join Leon, MCA understands.

The Duke Street Capital-backed chain promoted Gregory from regional director to managing director of North America last July as it geared up to launch in New York.

Gregory, who has been with the company for nearly five years in total after joining from Welcome Break. He also had a stint at TGI Friday’s. He has become director of restaurants at Leon, based in the UK.

Wagamama currently operates five sites in the US, comprising three in Boston and two in New York.

Leon plans to make its US debut in Washington DC next year.

Leon, the healthy, fast-food chain, is set to further strengthen its central London estate with an opening in Westminster.

The company, which is set to open in Utrecht in the coming weeks, has secured the unit at 25-27 Horseferry Road, for an opening before the end of the year.

MCA understands that the company is also hoping to take space at the Centre: MK on Sunset Walk.

Earlier this summer, the company opened its fiftieth site in London’s Paddington Station.
