Fulham Shore has appointed Javed Akhtar and Sandro Spahiu as managing director for Franco Manca and The Real Greek, respectively.

Akhtar was promoted to MD from his role as operations director at Franco Manca, prior to which he was operations manager for Gourmet Burger Kitchen.

Spahiu was also promoted to MD from his role as operations director for The Real Greek, prior to which he was operations manager. He joined Fulham Shore in 2012 from his role as area manager for Gourmet Burger Kitchen.

Marcel Khan, CEO of The Fulham Shore, said: “We’re delighted that Javed Akhtar and Sandro Spahiu have been promoted to Managing Directors of Franco Manca and The Real Greek respectively. Both move up from Operations Directors, where they’ve helped ensure that Franco Manca and The Real Greek deliver an authentic and high-quality experience every time. In their new roles, they will continue to lead operations at their respective brands and will also work closely with myself and the leadership team to continue evolving Franco Manca and The Real Greek.”

Khan, who took over as CEO in January, told MCA last month that Fulham Shore plans to open 10 sites between its two brands this year and is likely to dial up its pace of expansion in the future.

The business is to look for further opportunities in European markets, with Franco Manca having launched in Spain.
