Five Guys, the popular US burger chain, has hired a new head of property as it gears up to increase its presence in the UK in 2014, M&C Report has learnt.

The company, which is set to open its third UK in Upper Street, Islington, next month, has hired Neville Maling, the former group property manager at Aurora Fashions, the group that manages and develops fashions brands such as Karen Millen, Warehouse and Oasis.

He replaces Marc Balding, who left the group earlier this year to become property director at Byron.

It is understood to have secured its second site outside of London, after agreeing to take a unit at Lakeside Shopping Centre’s new £9m foodcourt in Essex. The group will launch at the scheme next summer.

Five Guys currently operates in Covent Garden and the Oracle in Reading.

Earlier this summer, John Eckbert, director of Five Guys UK, told M&C Report, that the company was ready to be aggressive when it comes to its roll out next year after the group’s launch here exceeded expectations.
