Five Guys, the popular US burger chain, has appointed an operations director for Germany as it gears up to launch in Continental Europe over the next 18 months.

The company, which is set to open a further six sites in the UK before the end of the year, has appointed Peter Allan former operations director at ISS Facility Services to the new role. He was previously a former director of operations at Compass and director of food & beverage at Legoland.

It is thought the group, which is backed by Charles Dunstone, will target Germany first, followed by France and Spain, depending on the right sites becoming available.

The group will open another six sites before the end of the year, two next month in Bristol and at the O2, plus openings in Leeds, Edinburgh, Glasgow and London’s Argyll Street in December.

It hopes to eventually operate 175 to 200 “high volume sites” in the UK.

It will look to add a further 20 to 30 sites in the UK next year.
