Former Young’s chief executive Patrick Dardis has joined Brasserie Bar Co as a non-executive director.

Dardis stepped down from his role at Young’s in July this year, after six years in the CEO role and 20 at the pub company in total.

Commenting on his appointment, Mark Derry, executive chairman, Brasserie Bar Co told MCA: “Both Brasserie Bar Co and Alchemy Partners, our investor, are delighted to welcome Patrick onboard.

“We are extremely proud that someone of Patricks industry stature and extensive experience will help guide us through the coming years as we continue to develop the group.”

Brasserie Bar Co, which operates White Brasserie pubs and Brasserie Blanc restaurants, was acquired by Alchemy in February this year, in a deal understood to be around £40m.

Speaking at MCA’s Pub Conference earlier this year, Derry, said the company’s focus had been on finding a backer that would continue to invest on the other side of the pandemic, “specifically in the pub part of the business where we see a lot of opportunity”, with its believe that Alchemy would be supportive of the business going forward a key factor.

“The important thing is that you need an investor that’s got the firepower to do it,” he said. “I think we were probably under-capitalised for quite a long time, so it was difficult to grow. We saw this as the chance to move ahead quickly.”

Last month, Ed Little, former property director at RedCat Pub Company join Brasserie Bar Co as group property director.

The business currently operates 33 sites and has the requisite funds to grow to 70 over the next three to five years.
