Tom Crowley, operations director at Giraffe, has joined the board of Thali Café, the fledgling Indian restaurant chain, as it gears up for further growth, M&C understands.

Crowley, who joined the Tesco-backed restaurant group at the start of 2014 from Mitchells & Butlers, joins Pieminister owner Tristan Hogg as a non-executive director of the Bristol-based, five-strong business.

The group, which is led by founder Jim Pizer, currently operates in Bristol, but is believed to be in talks to secure further funding to expand both in and outside the city.

It has recently refurbished its site in Southville, which it hopes will be a template for future openings.

Crowley was previously retail director for M&B’s Premium Country Dining Group.
