Coco di Mama, the Azzurri Group-owned, quick-service Italian concept, has appointed Charley O’Toole as its new head of people.

O’Toole joins the 12-strong company after three and a half years as HR business partners at the Greene King-owned Metropolitan Pub Company. Previous to that she was head of resourcing at the Admiral Group.

Coco di Mama recently opened its 12th site in the capital on the former Pret A Manger unit in Leather Lane.

Co-founder Daniel Land told MCA that the group had had a record opening at its Bow Lane site and that full-year turnover was set to double from £4.7m in the previous 12 months.

It is thought that the group is already in negotiations on a thirteenth site in the capital.

The concept, which is led by Land and Jeremy Sanders, was acquired by the Azzurri Group last year in a deal believed to be valued at c£12m.

Last year, Steve Holmes, chief executive of the Azzurri Group, told MCA the group’s acquisition of Coco Di Mama could see it grow to 40 sites in the next couple of years.
