Irish drinks company C&C Group has announced the appointment of Brian Calder as chief executive of its Tennent Caledonian Breweries business.

He will move into the role from his current position as managing director of Wallaces TCB, which was formed following C&C Group’s full acquisition of the Wallaces Express wholesale business earlier this month.

In a statement, C&C Group, which owns the Magners brand in the UK, said: “He will take over the newly enlarged Scottish business, bringing a wealth of skills and experience in the multi-beverage drinks industry to the job.

“John Gilligan, managing director for Tennent Caledonian Breweries, has indicated a desire to wind down over the next period of time and will work collaboratively with Brian until this critical transition period is complete.”
