Yard Sale Pizza, the restaurant and delivery concept, has hired Hawksmoor chairman Paul Campbell as a non-executive director, MCA has learnt.

Yard Sale co-founder Johnnie Tate said Campbell would help steer the four-strong business on its next stage of growth, as it seeks to add one or two more sites in 2019, with South London currently being explored.

Campbell is an investor in and sits on the boards as chairman or non-executive director at Hawksmoor, Vinoteca, Hickory’s, Blacklock, Tortilla, The Alchemist and Gusto, via his Hill Capital Partners vehicle.

He is also the former finance director of PizzaExpress and owner of Clapham House, the former owner of Gourmet Burger Kitchen and The Real Greek brands.

Tate said: “Paul is coming in to guide us through our planned growth over the next few years.

“We are looking to steadily expand around London, and he will guide as through the strategy and make sure we’re not making any silly mistakes.

“He obviously has a huge amount of experience and expertise in hospitality, so we are delighted sot have him joining us.”

Tate said the group was “keeping its options open” in terms of seeking growth funding,

Yard Sale was one of the initial traders at Market Halls’ debut food hall in Fulham, though left in Autumn to concentrate on its core business.

Tate added: “It was all very amicable. We thought we would test it out. It was quite a low risk venture for us. But we decided after six months it wasn’t quite right for us.”
