Camerons, the Hartlepool-based brewer and pub operator, has appointed Joe Smith, former operations manager at Greene King, as its new pub estate director, as it looks to triple the size of its pub estate over the next two years.

Smith is soon to leave Greene King after nearly five years with the company working across its Pub Partners estate.

Previous to joining Greene King he spent nearly six years as a regional manager at Enterprise Inns.

Earlier this year, the 76-strong Camerons carried out a c£25m refinancing and told M&C Report that it planned to operate 200 pubs by the end of 2015.

It reported EBITDA of c£5.8m in the year to 28 April, in line with the previous year, despite reporting a pre-tax loss and seeing a dip in turnover.

The company saw its pre-tax profit of £1.9m in 2012 turn into a pre-tax loss of £100,000 after incurring impairment costs of £500,000 associated with its debt refinancing. Turnover, net of duty, fell from £21.8m to £19.8m.
